This weeks theme is winter and it could not come at a better time. Western Washington got blasted with snow, ice storms and deep freezes this week. It was fun the first day but now we all want our rain back! I had other pictures planned for this post from the first day of snow and sledding. But then I went on a little walk around the backyard while throwing the ball for my dogs and saw this icicle hanging from my daughter’s swing set. I must say that I’m pretty impressed with my 24-70mm lens capturing the detail inside the icicle.

Now head on over and see Tifani’s blog to see her take on winter at Calculating Exposure Photography.
Wow! Love this! It looks almost engraved… Beautiful shot.
So beautiful! Love the ice down the ice…looks like script writing almost.
Errrggg…my first comment didn’t work. LOVE this shot! Love the simplicity of it! Marty is trying to talk me out of the 24-70 due to the cost, but this is just saying I need it! Love the detail. Any suggestions on another zoom lens?
I love the detail! Great shot!
this is awesome!! I’ve tried to get a decent photo of an icicle and it’s hard!
I’m impressed, too. Would have sworn you were using a macro! It looks like a ballerina to me.
Wow, that’s some impressive detail! Such a beautiful shot Melissa!
